Ars Technic’s David Wessel writes that Apple and Facebook’s patent battles have a lot in common.
The two companies, both based in Cupertino, California, are both in the tech business, but they also have a history of suing each other.
Apple and its lawyers filed for more than $3 billion in patent damages against Facebook in 2015, while Facebook sued Apple in the U.S. for nearly $3.6 billion in the same year.
Both lawsuits have since been thrown out.
Google filed for nearly a billion in damages in January against Facebook.
In the end, both companies settled their patent disputes, which were settled in February 2016, but Apple and Microsoft are still working out the details.
